Dean Research, Griffith Sciences
Professor Rebecca Ford gained her BSc at Griffith University and her PhD at The University of Melbourne where she went on to work her way up through the academic ranks. She is currently Dean (Research) for the Science Group at Griffith University where she also leads an engaged research team within the Food Futures Platform of the Environmental Futures Research Institute. She is passionate about improving the sustainability of our food production systems through developing new tools. In particular, she is currently working with broad acre legume and horticultural cropping systems to understand the way plants defend themselves to pathogens, the way that pathogen populations adapt to overcome plant resistance mechanisms and to develop and apply accurate pathogen diagnostics to inform disease management and reduce fungicide use.
