Erna Witoelar

Founder of the Indonesian Environmental Forum and president of the Indonesian Consumer Foundation and of Consumers International.

Dr Erna Witoelar is the former UN Special Ambassador for the MDGs in Asia Pacific (2003-2007). Before this post, she served as the Indonesian Minister for Human Settlements and Regional Development. She was the commissioner of the Global Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor, Commission on Developing Countries and Global Changes, and the Earth Charter Commission.

She is founder and leader of the Partnership for Governance Reform in Indonesia (PGRI) and Foundation for Local Governance Innovation (YIPD); was also founder and leader of other CSOs like the Indonesian Environmental Forum (WALHI); the Asia Pacific Water Forum (APWF), Community Recovery Program (CRP), Women’s Movement for Planting and Nurturing (GPPT), etc. She was President of Consumers International (CI) and the Indonesian Consumer Foundation (YLKI).
